What do we pay for a platinum Tudor Beasts?
Based on the platinum rate of this moment, €49.33 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine platinum | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz | 31.104 g | — | €1,503.61 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure platinum it contains.
This coin is 999.5‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
Ten heraldic beasts of the Tudors, after the stone statues on the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

From Westminster to Hampton Court
Where the Queen's Beasts go back to the coronation of 1953, the Tudor Beasts look further back: to the ten stone heraldic beasts on the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace. The Royal Mint opened the series in 2022 with the Lion of England, with Queen Elizabeth II still on the obverse.
What the coin is worth
Each Tudor Beast in platinum contains 31.1035 grams of platinum. We pay on that weight against the platinum rate of the moment; the amount is in the table on this page and moves with the market.

We assess two values
The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.

Questions about selling platinum Tudor Beasts
Does it matter which beast is on the coin?
Not for the platinum value. All beasts in the series contain the same troy ounce of platinum. Whether a particular beast fetches more among collectors is assessed by the valuer at the table.
Is it King Charles or Queen Elizabeth on the coin?
The first issue of 2022 still carries the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II; later years may carry the portrait of King Charles III. The portrait makes no difference to the price.
How do you check authenticity?
With a calibrated scale, callipers for diameter and thickness, and an X-ray measurement of the fineness. The check is non-destructive and takes place while you are sitting with us.
What do I need to bring?
Your coins and valid identification. Without identification the law does not allow us to buy anything, however small the amount.
