What you see on this page
Gold we settle per carat; silver, platinum and palladium per alloy. All the prices on this page follow the world market rate and are refreshed every minute, so the figure in front of you is the figure of this moment and not of this morning.
The rates are quoted worldwide in dollars per troy ounce. We convert them to euros per gram at the current euro rate, because that is the unit in which your own piece is weighed at the table.
What you see here is the pure material value. Rate times fineness times weight, with nothing deducted. The time of the last update is shown beneath every table.
Gold per carat, the other three per alloy
Gold. Gold is expressed in carats. The higher the carat, the more pure gold your jewellery contains – and the higher the purchase price per gram.
Silver. Silver knows no carat but alloys. The stamp in your item indicates how many thousandths of pure silver it contains.
Platinum. Platinum is expressed in alloys. In jewellery 950 occurs most often; industrial platinum is often purer still.
Palladium. Palladium occurs in white gold jewellery and in industry. Here too the alloy determines the purchase price.

Questions about our prices
How often are the prices updated?
Every minute. We fetch the spot rate and the euro exchange rate from the world market and pass them straight through to every price on the site. The time of the last update is shown on each price page, so you can always see how fresh the figure in front of you is.
Why is the purchase price lower than the spot price?
Between your jewellery and a tradeable bar sit melting, refining and assaying, and those costs sit in our margin. We show that margin openly, per fineness, so that you can see what happens between the spot price and the purchase price. The spot price itself applies only to pure, certified metal on the world market.
What is the difference between carat and alloy?
Carat is the measure for gold: 24 carat is pure gold, 14 carat is 58.5% gold. Silver, platinum and palladium are expressed in thousandths instead – 925 for sterling silver, for example. Both say the same thing: which part of the weight is precious metal and which part is not.
Do I get the same price at a branch as on the website?
Yes, the price you see here is the same price you get at all 45 of our locations. At the table we only still establish the weight and the fineness of your pieces. For the fineness we measure, the price per gram shown on this site is what applies.
