What do we pay for a silver Noah’s Ark?
Based on the silver rate of this moment, €1.75 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine silver | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz | 31.104 g | — | €53.25 |
| 1/2 oz | 15.552 g | — | €26.63 |
| 1/4 oz | 7.776 g | — | €13.31 |
| 5 oz | 155.518 g | — | €266.26 |
| 1 kilo | 1,000 g | — | €1,712.06 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure silver it contains.
This coin is 999‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
Issued by Armenia, struck in Germany. The reverse shows the ark on Mount Ararat, the obverse the Armenian coat of arms with lion and eagle.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

Why this coin turns up so often in Europe
Noah’s Ark is legal tender in Armenia, but it is struck and sold by a German precious metals group. That is why it was sold widely in the German-speaking countries and the Benelux, and we see that at the counter.
The 1/4, 1/2 and 1 oz appeared in 2011; larger sizes followed a year later, up to a kilo. The ounce has a face value of 500 dram.
Large sizes and lots
A kilo coin or a stack of ounces is valued just as carefully as a single coin: weighed, measured and tested for fineness. With a large lot it helps if you call ahead, so we can set aside enough time and liquidity.
How to sell your silver Noah’s Ark
From walking in to being paid usually takes less than half an hour.
Do not polish it
With collector coins, cleaning can push the value down considerably. A natural patina belongs to them.
Bring it in
With or without an appointment, at one of our 45 locations. If the coin is in a holder, leave it in there.
We assess two values
The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.
Paid out straight away
In cash or by bank transfer. Larger amounts reach your account within 24 hours.

Questions about selling silver Noah’s Ark
Is Noah’s Ark a real coin or a medal?
A real coin: it is legal tender in Armenia, with a face value in dram. For us only the silver weight counts, and that is stated on the coin.
Which sizes do you buy?
All of them: 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz and the larger coins up to a kilo. Every size is weighed and settled on its fine silver.
The fineness is 999, not 999.9. Does that matter?
Hardly. The difference is a fraction of a percent. We settle on the silver the coin actually contains.
Can I sell a kilo coin without its box?
Yes. A box or certificate is nice but not needed; we test the coin itself.
