What do we pay for a silver 10 and 20 euro Germany?
Based on the silver rate of this moment, €1.75 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine silver | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 euros 2002-2010 | 16.65 g | 18 g | €27.92 |
| 10 euros 2011-2015 | 10 g | 16 g | €16.77 |
| 20 euros from 2016 | 16.65 g | 18 g | €27.92 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure silver it contains.
This coin is 925‰ pure. The rest of the alloy – usually copper – makes it harder and scratch-resistant, but has no value. That is why we calculate on the fine weight and not on what the scales say.
From 2011 to 2015 the German 10 euro was 625 silver and lighter. After that it became a 20 euro in 925 silver. So the date determines the silver weight.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

Three periods
The first German silver 10 euros, from 2002 to 2010, weigh 18 grams and are 925 silver. To absorb the rising price of silver, the coin was made from 2011 to 2015 in 625 silver at 16 grams: 10 grams of fine silver instead of 16.65. Since 2016 it has appeared as a 20 euro, back in 925 silver at 18 grams.
In a collection of dozens of coins the periods are often mixed. We sort by date and settle each group on its own fine silver.
Legal tender, but only in Germany
The coins are legal tender in Germany and nowhere else. With us you get the silver value. Whether that lies above or below face value depends on the silver rate and the period; the valuation is free, so you can compare at your leisure.
