What do we pay for a silver Canadian Wildlife?

Based on the silver rate of this moment, €1.75 per gram of fine material. As of:

VariantFine silverTotal weightWe pay
1 oz31.104 g—€53.25

This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.

How we arrive at this amount

A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure silver it contains.

This coin is 999.9‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.

Six animals in three years: wolf and grizzly in 2011, cougar and moose in 2012, pronghorn and bison in 2013. Then the series was complete.

Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

Six coins, one series

The Wildlife series appeared in pairs: first the wolf and the grizzly bear, then the cougar and the moose, and finally the pronghorn and the bison. Because they come from the same mint, they are often mistaken for a Maple Leaf at the counter. It is a series of its own, with the same silver weight.

How we assess the coin

We weigh every coin, check the dimensions and determine the fineness. Single coins, full tubes and complete sets are all welcome; a set is valued coin by coin.

Milk spots are common on these years from the Royal Canadian Mint. They are cosmetic and do not count against the silver.

In four steps

How to sell your silver Canadian Wildlife

From walking in to being paid usually takes less than half an hour.

  1. Do not polish it

With collector coins, cleaning can push the value down considerably. A natural patina belongs to them.

  2. Bring it in

With or without an appointment, at one of our 45 locations. If the coin is in a holder, leave it in there.

  3. We assess two values

The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.

  4. Paid out straight away

In cash or by bank transfer. Larger amounts reach your account within 24 hours.

Questions about selling silver Canadian Wildlife

Is this a Maple Leaf?

No, although the layout is similar. The Wildlife series is a separate Royal Canadian Mint issue with an animal on the reverse. The silver weight is the same: one troy ounce at 999.9.

I have all six animals, do I get more for that?

We settle on the silver: six times 31.1035 grams. A complete set in original packaging can interest a collector, and if so the valuer will say.

My coins have white spots, does that lower the price?

No. Milk spots are very common in this series and change nothing about the silver weight.

How quickly do I get my money?

Straight away in cash at the counter, or by bank transfer within 24 hours. You only decide after seeing the offer.
