What do we pay for a silver America the Beautiful?
Based on the silver rate of this moment, €1.75 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine silver | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 oz | 155.518 g | — | €266.26 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure silver it contains.
This coin is 999‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
A five-ounce coin in the form of a quarter dollar, but three inches across. Every national park or monument had its own coin.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

A five-ounce quarter
The obverse shows George Washington, just like the ordinary quarter; the reverse a national park, forest or monument, one for each state and territory. Five appeared each year, and the weight and fineness are struck into the edge.
What we check on a five-ounce coin
With a coin this size the weight is the first thing that stands out: 155.52 grams of fine silver, more than a sixth of a kilo. We weigh, measure and test the fineness, and read the edge lettering.
There is also a matte-finished collector version with a P mint mark. We assess that separately, as collector value can come on top of the silver.
How to sell your silver America the Beautiful
From walking in to being paid usually takes less than half an hour.
Do not polish it
With collector coins, cleaning can push the value down considerably. A natural patina belongs to them.
Bring it in
With or without an appointment, at one of our 45 locations. If the coin is in a holder, leave it in there.
We assess two values
The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.

How much silver is in an America the Beautiful coin?
Five troy ounces, or 155.52 grams of fine silver at 999. It is also stated on the edge of the coin.
Does it matter which park is on it?
Not for the silver value. A few parks were issued in smaller mintages and are sought after; the valuer will tell you if that applies to your coin.
My coin is in a plastic sleeve, can it stay there?
Yes, leave it in. We can measure through it and only take it out if necessary, while you are present.
