How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure palladium it contains.
This coin is 999.5‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
The Bounty reached the Cook Islands in 1789; the sailing ship also appears on the islands’ silver coin.

The Cook Islands issue the Bounty in silver and in palladium. The palladium version carries a face value of 50 dollars and contains a troy ounce of 999.5 palladium. In Europe it is widely sold as a palladium investment, often with mixed years.

What counts is the palladium: 31.1035 grams per coin. We multiply that by the palladium rate and deduct our margin. Year and packaging make no difference to that calculation.
