How does the silver Krugerrand differ from the gold one?
Only in the metal and the year it appeared. The gold coin has been struck since 1967 at 916.7 fine, while the silver version arrived in 2017 at 999 fine with 31.1035 grams of silver. The design of Paul Kruger and the springbok is shared by both.
Is the Silver Krugerrand a collector’s coin?
Mostly it is bought as bullion, so we settle on the silver content. Certain early issues and premium finishes from the launch years do attract collectors, and if your coin is one of those we say so and value it against both figures before making an offer.
The springbok side is marked, does that cost me money?
No, marks and toning do not touch the price. Fine silver is soft and shows handling quickly, but we settle on weight and fineness rather than appearance. Please do not polish the coin: cleaning leaves scratches and can only lose you money on a collectable year.
What identification do you accept?
A passport, a Dutch identity card or a driving licence, as long as it is valid. We are legally required to record who we buy precious metal from, so the details are noted before payment. A copy or a photograph on your phone is not sufficient for this.
How quickly is a larger amount settled?
By bank transfer, in your account within 24 hours. Cash is available at the counter for smaller sums and is paid out the moment you accept. Either way the offer is calculated and explained in front of you, and walking away costs you nothing at all.
