What do we pay for a Silver Britannia?
Based on the silver rate of this moment, €1.62 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine silver | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz | 31.104 g | — | €50.46 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure silver it contains.
This coin is 999‰ pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

How to sell your Silver Britannia
From walking in to being paid usually takes less than half an hour.
Do not polish it
With collector coins, cleaning can push the value down considerably. A natural patina belongs to them.
Bring it in
With or without an appointment, at one of our 45 locations. If the coin is in a holder, leave it in there.
We assess two values
The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.
Paid out straight away
In cash or by bank transfer. Larger amounts reach your account within 24 hours.

Questions about selling Silver Britannia
What is a Silver Britannia worth?
Its value follows the silver rate against 31.1035 grams of fine silver per coin. We work the sum out in front of you, deduct our margin and show the result before you decide, and the table on this page carries the figure per coin as it stands today.
Are older Britannias a different fineness?
They can be. The series has not always been struck to the same standard since 1997, so the valuer checks the year and measures the fineness rather than assuming. Whatever the outcome, we settle on the actual weight of fine silver in the coin you bring in.
Does the portrait or the year change the price?
Not for the silver value. Britannias have carried several portraits over the years and each of them holds the same ounce of silver. Only proof issues in their original box and capsule can carry a collector’s premium, and we assess those separately and tell you the difference.
Do you need to see my passport?
A passport, identity card or driving licence, yes: valid photo identification is required before we can pay out. It is a legal obligation on precious metal buyers in the Netherlands rather than a preference of ours, and it applies to every transaction regardless of the amount involved.
Can I be paid in cash?
Yes, smaller amounts are paid in cash at the counter as soon as you accept the offer. Above a certain level we pay by bank transfer instead, and that money is in your account within 24 hours. You decide whether to accept before anything is handed over.
