What do we pay for a peruvian gold soles?
Based on the gold rate of this moment, €119.54 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine gold | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 soles | 42.126 g | 46.81 g | €4,834.25 |
| 50 soles | 30.093 g | 33.44 g | €3,453.31 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure gold it contains.
This coin is 900‰ (21.6 carat) pure. The rest of the alloy – usually copper – makes it harder and scratch-resistant, but has no value. That is why we calculate on the fine weight and not on what the scales say.
Large coins: the 100 soles contains more than a troy ounce of gold, well over 42 grams.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

Heavier than an ounce
The 50 soles appeared from 1930, the 100 soles from 1950. Both are 900 gold and were struck in Lima until 1970. At 46.8 grams, the 100 soles is heavier than almost any other common gold coin.
How we settle
On the fine gold: 42.13 grams per 100 soles and 30.09 grams per 50 soles. With coins of this size counterfeiting pays, so we always weigh, measure and determine the fineness ourselves, while you watch.
