What do we pay for a gold Belga 75 euro?
Based on the gold rate of this moment, €119.54 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine gold | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 75 euros | 7.776 g | 7.78 g | €910.92 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure gold it contains.
This coin is 999.9‰ (24 carat) pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
Issued for a hundred years of the belga, the unit of account Belgium introduced alongside the franc in 1926.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

A hundred years of the belga
In 1926 Belgium introduced the belga, a unit of account worth five francs that was meant to stabilise the currency. A hundred years later Belgium issued a gold 75-euro coin bearing that name: a quarter troy ounce of 999.9 gold, without a fixed mintage, and so closer to an investment coin than the usual commemoratives.
Settlement
We pay on 7.78 grams of fine gold against the gold rate of the moment. Because the mintage is open, the coin is traded first and foremost for its gold.
