What do we pay for a gold 12.5 euro Belgium?
Based on the gold rate of this moment, €119.54 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine gold | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12.5 euros | 1.25 g | 1.25 g | €146.43 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure gold it contains.
This coin is 999‰ (24 carat) pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
First a series with the Belgian kings (2006–2011), then the queens, and since then a subject each year.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

A line of monarchs in small gold
From 2006 to 2011 the Royal Belgian Mint struck six gold 12.5-euro coins, each showing one of the Belgian kings up to Albert II. The queens followed, from Paola to Mathilde, and later annual subjects such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and Antwerp as city of diamonds. The size stayed the same: 1.25 grams of 999 gold.
Small but pure
Because the coin is struck in pure gold, we pay on the full weight of 1.25 grams, against the gold rate of the moment. If you have a complete series, bring it in one go; each coin is weighed separately and added up.
