What do we pay for a gold 100 euro Belgium?
Based on the gold rate of this moment, €119.54 per gram of fine material. As of:
| Variant | Fine gold | Total weight | We pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 euros | 15.55 g | 15.55 g | €1,821.63 |
This price applies regardless of the year and the mint. With a rare year or exceptional condition the collector’s value can be higher than the material value – then we say so, even if that means you are better off not selling us the coin.
How we arrive at this amount
A coin is precious metal in a recognisable shape. What it fetches therefore depends almost entirely on the fine weight: the weight of pure gold it contains.
This coin is 999‰ (24 carat) pure, so the fine weight and the total weight are almost the same.
The heaviest regular Belgian gold euro coin: half a troy ounce, since the pioneers of European unification in 2002.
Not sure whether your coin is genuine? We check weight, diameter, thickness and – if in doubt – the density with X-ray analysis. Non-destructive: your coin stays intact.

Half an ounce per subject
In 2002, the first euro year, Belgium issued a gold 100 euro in honour of the pioneers of European unification. Among those that followed were 175 years of Belgian independence, Expo 58 and the Atomium, Victor Horta, Mercator, Vesalius and René Magritte. Each coin weighs 15.55 grams of 999 gold.
Settled on the gold
We pay on 15.55 grams of gold against the gold rate of the moment. Later issues sometimes appeared in mintages of a few hundred. We always pay the gold value; whether a coin has collector’s value on top is assessed by the valuer at the table.
How to sell your gold 100 euro Belgium
From walking in to being paid usually takes less than half an hour.
Do not polish it
With collector coins, cleaning can push the value down considerably. A natural patina belongs to them.

We assess two values
The precious metal and what the coin itself does: year, mintage and condition. You get the higher of the two.

Questions about selling gold 100 euro Belgium
How much gold is in a gold 100 euro?
15.55 grams of pure gold, half a troy ounce.
Do the older coins weigh differently?
No, every issue since 2002 has the same size. The valuer still weighs each coin, so you see exactly what is being settled.
Does a small mintage make the coin worth more?
Sometimes to collectors, but the valuer assesses that at the table. We promise no premium in advance and always pay the gold.
Can I sell several coins at once?
Certainly. Let us know about larger quantities in advance, so the valuer can take the time and enough money is ready.
