Look for the stamp 500 – usually on the inside of a ring or on the back of a cufflink, sometimes written as Pd500. That number stands for the quantity of thousandths of pure material: 500 means 50% palladium.
If there is no stamp at all, we measure the fineness with an acid test or – with valuable pieces – with X-ray analysis. That last method is non-destructive: your jewellery stays intact.
