How a valuation works at XGOUD: you only sign after you hear the amount
You make an appointment, we weigh and measure your pieces, you hear the amount and only then do you decide. Nothing is signed before you know the amount, and you are not committed to anything.
Before you come
A valuation is always by appointment, at one of our 45 branches in the Netherlands and Belgium or at your home. Bring valid photo ID: it is mandatory. You do not need a proof of purchase or the original invoice.
The valuation itself is free. If the appointment no longer suits you, you can change or cancel it by phone or email. That costs nothing.
At the table: weighing and measuring
We weigh on a calibrated scale, so the weight is right. Every branch also has an X-ray device at the table: we use it to determine the fineness of the metal while you sit and watch.
Weight and fineness together give the amount of pure metal in your piece. That is what we calculate with, at the rate of the day.
What we do not buy. Rolled gold, gold-plated and gold-filled items have only a thin layer of gold and we do not buy them. For jewellery with pearls or semi-precious stones we pay for the metal.
The amount and your decision
Only when the valuation is finished do we name the amount. You hear it, think it over and decide for yourself whether to sell. If you say no, you simply take your pieces home again.
If you say yes, you sign after the amount has been named, not before. Payment follows: read our article on cash or bank transfer.
